Quick answer
How big is Whatnot?
Whatnot said its sellers had moved more than $6 billion of goods during 2025 by October, compared with more than $3 billion in livestream GMV during all of 2024. Its engineering team also reported more than 5 million new product listings per day and more than $75 million in global live sales on Black Friday 2025.
These figures describe marketplace transaction activity, not Whatnot's accounting revenue. They come from Whatnot Engineering's 2025 review and are presented with their original time periods rather than blended into an estimated annual total.
Whatnot statistics at a glance
The period and definition matter as much as the number. This table distinguishes annual GMV, partial-year marketplace volume, event sales, listing creation, and seller-facing claims.
| Metric | Reported figure | Period | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marketplace volume | $6B+ | January–October 2025 | Value of goods moved by sellers; not company revenue. |
| Livestream GMV | $3B+ | Full year 2024 | Annual gross merchandise value from livestream sales. |
| Product listings | 5M+ per day | Reported December 2025 | Listings created daily by sellers. |
| Black Friday live sales | $75M+ | Black Friday 2025 | Global live GMV during the event. |
| Peak Black Friday pace | 125 items/second | Black Friday 2025 | Purchases per second at the reported peak. |
| Largest single show | $1M+ | Black Friday 2025 | Sales during one reported 10-hour show. |
| Seller categories | 50+ | Current seller page | Categories available to sellers; availability can vary by market. |
| Average seller earnings | $25K/year | Current seller page | Whatnot's stated average; not a promise or typical-result guarantee. |

What the growth figures show
Passing $6 billion by October 2025 after $3 billion for all of 2024 indicates that marketplace volume more than doubled on the timetable Whatnot reported. The 2025 Black Friday figures also show the platform operating at event scale: over $75 million in one day, a peak of 125 purchases per second, and one 10-hour show above $1 million in sales.
Those figures establish platform scale, but they do not describe a typical seller. Category, inventory access, audience, pricing, show frequency, costs, and fulfillment quality can produce very different outcomes.
What sellers should measure instead
A seller cannot operate from platform GMV alone. Track paid sales, average order value, orders per show hour, fees, shipping subsidies, product cost, promotion spend, repeat-buyer rate, cancellations, and contribution profit.
Use the Whatnot fee calculator to model take-home economics, then compare public marketplace activity through Weftify's category statistics.
Whatnot seller economics and operations
Fees
Whatnot normally deducts commission and payment processing from a sale. Rates vary by category, market, and program. Check the official seller fee schedule.
Shipping
Whatnot instructs sellers to ship within two business days, excluding weekends and holidays. Review the official fulfillment walkthrough.
Payouts
Availability depends on delivery, market, shipping method, and Early Payout eligibility. See Whatnot's payout timelines.
Frequently asked questions
How much is sold on Whatnot?
Whatnot Engineering reported that sellers moved more than $6 billion of goods by October 2025, after Whatnot reported more than $3 billion in livestream GMV for all of 2024. GMV is marketplace transaction value, not Whatnot company revenue.
How many products are listed on Whatnot?
Whatnot Engineering said sellers were creating more than 5 million product listings per day in late 2025. That is a flow of new listings, not a count of active or unique listings at one point in time.
How many sellers are on Whatnot?
Whatnot publicly describes a marketplace reaching millions of buyers, but the first-party sources reviewed for this page do not provide a current total number of active sellers. We do not substitute an unsourced estimate.
How much does the average Whatnot seller make?
Whatnot's seller page states that the average seller earns $25,000 per year. The page does not publish the complete methodology or distribution, so the figure should not be interpreted as a median, a guaranteed result, or an estimate for a new seller.
Sources and methodology
Weftify Research reviewed first-party Whatnot publications and Help Center pages on August 14, 2026. We preserve the reported period, distinguish GMV from company revenue, and do not estimate missing user or seller totals. Statistics can change as Whatnot publishes new disclosures.
